Model Predicted Impacts
Impact simulations were performed by running the model from 1918 to 2000 while
omitting all groundwater pumping and any associated return flows within each
state in turn, as well as a simulation where all surface water return flows and
canal leakage within the
mound area
is suppressed. For each of these simulations, the irrigated acreage was also
removed from the calculation for precipitation recharge.
The model predicted impacts shown below were then calculated by taking the
difference between the predicted stream flows at agreed upon points in the
stream flow network and integrating these differences to obtain annual impacts.
The following tables shows impacts calculated for the years 1981-2000. These
values are only a demonstration of how the impacts will be calculated when the
model is applied to the time period beyond 2000, and have no official standing
with respect to the Republican River Compact.
