Republican River Compact Administration
Groundwater Model Update 2007 (May 8, 2017)

This Republican River Compact Administration Groundwater Model update for 2007 uses the 5 Run Procedure.

The reservoir end-of-month storage was updated from the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) web site. The NCDC precipitation and temperature data were obtained from the NOAA web site.

The Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska data are from the August data exchange. Please see the background data for a description of how these data were generated.

Model Version 12s2

Model Version 12s2 used for Compact Year 2007 and beyond differs from Version 12s used for Compact Years 2001-2006 only in the way that the model results are accumulated into reaches.

The RRCA approved moving the Guide Rock gage location from Segment 253 Reach 6 to Segment 251 Reach 3 to reflect the physical relocation of the gage. This change alters the definition of the Harlan-Guide Rock and Guide Rock-Hardy reaches as reported by the groundwater model.

The RRCA also moved the North Fork accounting point from the confluence of the North Fork of the Republican River with the Arikaree River (Segment 153 Reach 12) to the gage on the North Fork of the Republican River at the Colorado/Nebraska State Line (USGS Gage 6823000, Segment 130 Reach 28) in accordance with the definition of the North Fork sub-basin in the Compact. This change modifies the definition of the North Fork and Above Swanson reaches as reported by the groundwater model.

In order to reflect these changes to the gaged locations, the HYDMOD input file was altered to also include the new location of the Guide Rock gage. The North Fork State Line gage was previously used as a calibration point for the model and was therefore already present in the HYDMOD file.

The acct program was altered to allow specification of the accounting parameter file, and a new accounting parameter file data0/acct.12s2 was created to change the definitions of the reaches reported by the groundwater model.

The hc2gr program reports the Imported Water Credit for the Harlan-Guide Rock reach on a monthly basis. This program was modified to use the new location of the Guide Rock gage starting with Compact Year 2007.
